Usac Mountain Bike Nationals

The USAC Mountain Bike Nationals were held on July 6-8 at the Mammoth Mountain Bike Park in Mammoth Lakes, California. The event was sanctioned by the United States of America Cycling (USAC), the national governing body for cycling in the United States.

The Mammoth Mountain Bike Park is a world-class mountain biking destination, and the course for the USAC Mountain Bike Nationals was no exception. The course consisted of a mix of fast, flowy singletrack and more technical sections, with a total elevation gain of over 3000 feet.

In the boys’ junior race, Gavin Mannion of Durango, Colorado, took the win, with Lucas Newcomb of Truckee, California, in second place and Gannon Myhr of Durango, Colorado, in third place. In the girls’ junior race, Chloe Woodruff of Prescott, Arizona, took the win, with Maddy Miller of Durango, Colorado, in second place and Ruby West of Ottawa, Ontario, in third place.

The weekend’s racing continued on Saturday with the senior races. In the men’s race, Howard Grotts of Durango, Colorado, took the win, with Keegan Swenson of Park City, Utah, in second place and Stephen Ettinger of Boulder, Colorado, in third place. In the women’s race, Kate Courtney of San Francisco, California, took the win, with Rebecca Fahringer of Concord, New Hampshire, in second place and Kaitlyn Antonneau of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, in third place.

The weekend’s racing came to a close on Sunday with the masters races. In the men’s race, Geoff Kabush of Vancouver, British Columbia, took the win, with Carl Decker of Bend, Oregon, in second place and Todd Wells of Durango, Colorado, in third place. In the women’s race, Katerina Nash of Truckee, California, took the win, with Maghalie Rochette of Saint-Ferreol-les-Neiges, Quebec, in second place and Myriam Guillot-Diaz of San Francisco, California, in third place.

The USAC Mountain Bike Nationals were a great success, and everyone involved had a great time. The event was a challenging test of skill and fitness for the riders, and the spectators were treated to some great racing.
